    [Product Offering][Supplier Background]

Manufacturing superior products for high quality PCB drilling, Tri Star provides entry overlay for accurate small hole drilling, aluminum clad backup for flat, consistent drill capabilities and THE GOLD SYSTEM, hard surface, non-aluminum entry and backup.

Backup and entry materials play an important part in prevention of damage. Entry materials are made from phenolic, aluminum foil, or paper and ranges in thickness from .005" to .010". Entry materials serve two purposes. One, they give drill bit a soft material to enter before hitting the copper-clad panel. This improves accuracy and prevents burrs (little spurs of copper created where the drill enters the panel). Two, when a drill retracts from the stack, the entry material helps to clear debris from the drill bit. A Backup board, placed on the bottom of a stack of panels, is composed of phenolic paper composite or aluminum foil-clad fiber composite. Its purpose is to prevent burrs from forming on the bottom panel and to protect the drill table. Backup is most often .093" thick.
